God established His kingdom under the rule and reign of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 9:6-7). Jesus came declaring it was time to repent and believe because “ the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The writer of Colossians explains that when we are saved we are transferred from the ‘domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son” (Col 1:13). The launch of this Kingdom and our ability to enter it through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is good news!
We desire that every person in a Catalyst church has a good understanding of the Gospel of the Kingdom and what it looks like to declare and demonstrate this where God has placed them, particularly remembering the poor. We want to be those committed to local mission and world evangelism. Sending people and resources to work out all aspects of the Great Commission in their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and ends of the earth. With the aim of declaring and demonstrating the gospel of the Kingdom as they go, baptising those who respond and planting new churches among those people. We believe that by the power of the Spirit we can undertake spiritual warfare by healing the sick, bringing freedom from oppression, leading people to Christ and doing the works of the Kingdom (Isaiah 61). These signs of the kingdom coming should be part of the everyday normal life of every Christian! It is also important that we are those that persevere through many difficulties including persecution and suffering as we take up our cross and follow Jesus.
In our last post of the series we will continue our series and look at how we can be a people who make healthy multiplying disciples.
